RAUL DORANTES - LAS VEGAS KNIGHTS (NHL) MANUAL THERAPIST

Matt Cain is one of the people who inspired me to be where I am today. He is one of the most intelligent people in the Strength & Conditioning field, I have come across. What I believe separates Matt, from others, is his ability to not only have the knowledge of sports science/S&C, but he applies it so well that the results speak for themselves. Whoever comes into contact with Matt and his staff will not only see improvement in their performance, but come out better people as well. Truly a professional in every sense of the word.

BRADY CONLAN - L.A. DODGERS (MLB) ORGANIZATION HITTING COACH (FORMER PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYER)

Since I started training with Matt, I have noticed an immediate increase in my agility, speed, quickness, power strength, explosiveness, and mobility. Most importantly, I saw the work transfer onto the baseball field. His sport specific training program helped me get through a full-160 game season completely healthy, strong, and powerful. Also, I have noticed an improvement in my quickness, strength, and power in multiple directions/movements. The most difficult part for any athlete is reaching personal bests in the weight room, while not sacrificing performance on the field. Matt designed a individualized program for me and continued to adjusted it to what suits me personally. Also, he does a great job at keeping the exercises fun and purposeful, which helps drive athletes to compete to get better! After the first 6 weeks of training, I already found myself shattering past personal records in the following: weight room, sprint and change of direction drills, and on baseball field. Matt sets a solid foundation, and made sure to establish proper lifting techniques and mobility, before increasing the intensity. He is absolutely one of the best coaches and people I have ever trained with. If you are serious about taking your performance to the next level, Matt will get you there with ease!

BLAKE SEITS - CSU SAN MARCOS MEN’S BASKETBALL

I started working with Matt my freshman year of college. He first met a scrawny, stiff, and inexperienced kid who thought weightlifting only consisted of squats, bench-press, and deadlifts. I have now been training with Matt for almost 3 years and have made considerable growth in strength, mobility, explosiveness, agility, and much more. His training has helped me progress physically, but has also increased my overall knowledge of being healthy. As an athlete, you often have to do more than what is required to become great. Matt is constantly learning and adapting; teaching his students and clients along the way. This knowledge helps and teaches us to take our health goals into our own hands and listen to our bodies. In addition, it encourages us to take that extra step toward our goals. Furthermore, Matt’s programs are well designed and easy to navigate, allowing for the users to switch exercises to their preference. He preaches it’s all about the application of the exercise. And if you are ever confused on how to do a certain exercise or the purpose of the exercise, Matt is very good at answering any and all questions. Every workout has a purpose! Overall, I have no doubt that whoever works with Matt will come out feeling and moving better, as well as gaining a great friend!

GRACE SEITS - LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY (LSU) BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Although, I have never personally met Matt, I completed his training program this summer through a virtual format. I play beach volleyball at LSU, and I have access to some of the best coaching and facilities in the country. However, regardless of top-notch facilities and equipment, Matt’s training program has more than prepared me to go back to school and compete in my sport, without skipping a beat. I feel more mobile, as well as explosive and powerful, and I believe I am returning to school a overall better athlete. The agility, mobility, power, and strength increases are obvious. However, the biggest difference I feel after completing the program is the decrease of pain and aches every day. The heavy requirement of practice a day takes a toll on the body, and Matt’s training program has helped me learn how to both prepare for workouts and recover from them as well. I am very grateful for Matt’s availability and commitment, and I would recommend him to anybody!

KAYLA BUENAVENTURA - NUTRITIONAL SCIENCES LAB ASSISTANT AT SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY (SDSU)

I started working with Matt after a long hiatus from training. I was recovering from an sciatica injury and gained around 40 lbs of weight after the injury. Post-recovery, it became difficult to get back into a program on my own, and I found myself hitting a lot of brick walls and plateaus. After a months of searching another coach, I found Matt and since then, he and I have worked through several training programs. It was really refreshing to receive a program that didn’t skip over the fundamentals: restoring/maintaining range of motion, flexibility, and mobility. The first program I did with him was an attempt to get back into full-time resistance training and transition from aesthetic-based weightlifting to powerlifting. Six-weeks in, my outlook on weights had completely changed with all the new, versatile movements I’d learned and the personal records I’d set. Week 12 saw many of those records surpassed to above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. The next training program I completed with Matt was the most impactful, as he helped reintroduce specific exercises into my workouts again; movements Matt knew I felt apprehensive about due to my past injury. Through a program that focused on mobility work, addressing the thoracic spine, improving lost lateral rotation, and improving core and glute activation through asymmetrical loading. Matt helped me form a concrete understanding about the foundations of multiple movements; my squat saw a 108lbs increase in 12-weeks.

Matt’s programming has helped me restore my confidence in myself as an athlete. It’s allowed me to doors to learning, and open-mindedness about achieving goals. Matt is an incredible coach, and it has been a blessing to work with him. He’s fully invested in helping you become the best athlete and person you can be, and the passion he has for his clients is truly something to be experienced.
